What do swan eat in water #Swan

One saturday morning I was sitting on the beach of Valladolid city. The beach is artificial made or natural. I donot know it. 

But it is located in center of the city on the bank of the river. It is a good place for performing exercise, walk and in summer to take sun bath. 

In my Back side where I am sitting there are many  ladies and gents taking sun bath. I was on this beach for feeling relax somehow than taking sun bath. Because sun bath normally give me fever later on. 

I dipped my foot in the cold and running water of the river for feeling sensation due to water. Fantastic moment for me. 

But it was more fantastic when I saw several Swans swimming very close to me. 

More interesting observation was when I saw them dipping their head and neck in the water. On dipping their body is lined at 180 degree.

Is it for for inserting head much dipper in the water? or Is there any other reason? You can writte your answer in the comment section.

The next question I was happing in my mind what do they eat. 

River has fresh water. For swimming, dipping and living on fresh water Swans typically eat pondweed, stonewort and wigeon grass. They also eat tadpoles and insects such as milfoil. 

I can see that many tadpoles swimming close to my foot. 

But the interesting observation is that they are swimming very close to surface of the water and I can see them with my naked eye. 

I donot need any microscope to watch them. Then, why are swans dipping their necks so much dipper in the water? Do they have any preference in their meal? If you know it, please write in comment section.

Swans also live in salt water. 

These typically eat sea arrow grass, salt marsh grass, eel grass, club rush and green algae. They also eat insects and molluscs.
